What is PDPA ?
The Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) is the major data protection and privacy regulation in Taiwan. The PDPA aims to regulate the collection, processing and use of personal data in order to prevent violations of privacy rights, and to ensure the proper use of personal data in Taiwan.
Similar to the GDPR the PDPA protects the data privacy of individuals and as such it contains a number of provisions and requirements related to the processing of personal data of individuals. The PDPA applies to any organization, that processes information in Taiwan without regard to whether the data subjects are Taiwanese nationals or not. The right to privacy is recognized right of the Constitution of Taiwan and therefore, is of fundamental value.
