What is Norway’s Personal Data Act ?

The Norwegian Personal Data Act (personopplysningsloven) is the Norwegian data protection and privacy regulation. This law supplements the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and tailors its provisions to the particular national context. The Norwegian data protection authority (‘Datatilsynet’) enforces data protection law in Norway.

The Act protects the data privacy of individuals and as such it contains a number of provisions and requirements related to the processing of personal data of individuals. In Norway, the right to privacy includes data privacy, which is a recognized human right and is part of the national Constitution and therefore, is of fundamental value.

This solution will provide your organisation guidance on how to comply with the Act and stay compliant with this regulation. In order to also receive guidance on the GDPR, we recommend to make use of this Norwegian Personal Data Act solution in combination with the GDPR solution.
