What is Norway’s Personal Data Act ?
The Norwegian Personal Data Act (personopplysningsloven) is the Norwegian data protection and privacy regulation. This law supplements the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and tailors its provisions to the particular national context. The Norwegian data protection authority (‘Datatilsynet’) enforces data protection law in Norway.
The Act protects the data privacy of individuals and as such it contains a number of provisions and requirements related to the processing of personal data of individuals. In Norway, the right to privacy includes data privacy, which is a recognized human right and is part of the national Constitution and therefore, is of fundamental value.
