What is Israel’s Protection of Privacy Law ?
The Protection of Privacy Law 1981 (PPL) is the is the major data protection and privacy regulation in Israel. In addition, there are guidelines published by the Israeli Protection of Privacy Authority, which is the Israeli regulatory and enforcing authority for personal digital information and responsible for the protection of all personal information held in digital databases.
The PPL consists of data security regulations, which determine the level of security and the security measures that should be implemented in computerized databases and moreover, transfer regulations, which regulate the transfer of personal data from Israeli databases outside the State of Israel. The right to privacy is also secured by the Basic Law: Human Dignity and Liberty, which makes the right for privacy a constitutional right in Israel.
This solution will provide your organisation guidance on how to gain and maintain compliance with the PPL. In order to also receive guidance on the GDPR, we recommend, that you make use of this PPL solution in combination with the GDPR solution.
