ISO/IEC 29100

What is the ISO 29100 ?

ISO 29100 is a privacy framework standard. The standard was published jointly by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in in 2011.  

ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization with a membership of 165 national standards bodies. Through its members, it brings together experts to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based, market relevant international standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges. 

ISO/IEC 29100 specifies common privacy terminology and it describes privacy safeguarding considerations. Moreover, it provides references to known privacy principles for information technology. This standard is applicable to individuals and organizations involved in specifying, procuring, architecting, designing, developing, testing, maintaining, administering, and operating information and communication technology systems or services where privacy controls are required.
