What is France’s Data Protection Act (DPA) ?

The French Personal Data Protection Act (DPA) of 2018 is the data protection and privacy regulation in France. This law supplements the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and tailors its provisions to the particular national context. The “Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés” is the national data protection authority in France and supervises the enforcement of the DPA.

The DPA protects the data privacy of individuals and as such it contains a number of provisions and requirements related to the processing of personal data of individuals. Data protection falls within the scope of the right to respect for private life, which has a constitutional value in France.

This solution will provide your organisation guidance on how to gain and maintain compliance with the DPA. In order to also receive guidance on the GDPR, we recommend, that you make use of this DPA solution in combination with the GDPR solution.
