What is the Danish Act on Data Protection ?

The Danish Act on Data Protection (Data Protection Act) is the data protection and privacy regulation in Denmark. This law supplements the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and tailors its provisions to the particular national context. The Danish Data Protection Agency “Datatilsynet” is an independent authority that supervises compliance with the rules on protection of personal data.

The Data Protection Act protects the data privacy of individuals and as such it contains a number of provisions and requirements related to the processing of personal data of individuals. In Denmark, the right to privacy, which is a recognized human right, is part of the national Constitution and therefore, is of fundamental value.
