What is COBIT ?

COBIT stands for Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies and is a framework created by ISACA for information technology (IT) management and IT governance. ISACA is an association that was incorporated as the EDP Auditors Association in 1969 by a small group of individuals who recognized a need for a centralized source of information and guidance in the new field of electronic data processing audit. 

The framework is business focused and defines a set of generic processes for the management of IT, with each process defined together with process inputs and outputs, key process-activities, process objectives, performance measures and an elementary maturity model.
