What is ISO 22301 ?

ISO 22301 is a management system standard, that specifies requirements to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain and continually improve a documented management system to protect against, reduce the likelihood of occurrence, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptive incidents when they arise.

The standard was published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 2019. ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization with a membership of 165 national standards bodies. Through its members, it brings together experts to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based, market relevant international standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.

The requirements specified in ISO 22301 are generic and intended to be applicable to all organizations, regardless of type, size, and industry. Organisations that meet the standard’s requirements have the option to be certified by an accredited certification body following successful completion of an audit.
