What is UK’s Data Protection Act ?
The Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) is the data protection and privacy regulation in the United Kingdom. This law supplements the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and tailors its provisions to the particular national context. The Information Commissioner’s Office is the national data protection authority and upholds information rights in the public interest, promoting openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals in the UK.
The DPA protects the data privacy of individuals and as such it contains a number of provisions and requirements related to the processing of personal data of individuals. In the UK the right to privacy is protected by the Human Rights Act 1998, which gives the right to privacy fundamental value.
