What is Switzerland’s Data Protection Act ?
The Data Protection Act (DPA) is the Swiss data protection and privacy regulation. The DPA aims to strengthen data protection in general and to align the DPA with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in order to facilitate compliance of Swiss companies with the GDPR and to ensure that the EU will continue to consider Switzerland as providing an adequate level of data protection. However, the DPA still provides for certain deviations from the GDPR provisions.
The DPA protects the data privacy of individuals and as such it contains a number of provisions and requirements related to the processing of personal data of individuals. The Swiss Federal Constitution guarantees your right to privacy and therefore, it the right to data privacy of fundamental value.
This solution will provide your organisation guidance on how to gain and maintain compliance with the DPA. In order to also receive guidance on the GDPR, we recommend, that you make use of this DPA solution in combination with the GDPR solution.
