What is PDPL ?

The Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) is the major data protection and privacy regulation in Peru. The PDPL aims to promote the protection of personal information processed in Peru and gives rights to individuals regarding their personal information. The Directorate for the Protection of personal data, which is part of the General Directorate of Transparency, Access to Public Information and Protection of Personal Data, is the data protection authority and the primary agency in charge of enforcing data protection matters in Peru.

The PDPL protects the data privacy of individuals and as such it contains a number of information privacy principles related to the processing of personal data of individuals. The Law on Personal Data Protection applies to the personal data contained or intended to be contained in personal data databases publicly and privately administered and/or processed in Peru.

This solution will provide your organisation guidance on how to gain and maintain compliance with the PDPL. In order to also receive guidance on the GDPR, we recommend that you make use of this PDPL solution in combination with the GDPR solution.
